A further take on the use of the Jo Sonja Iridescent Paints. This time in the form of a wide rimmed bowl. This piece has also just achieved the honour of Cover of the Day on the World of Woodturners on the 15th March 2016.
Just another one of my Airbrushed articles, made from Sycamore, which has been textured with the Sorby and the Wagner,Texturing tool, coloured black with Chestnut spirit stain, Gold Gilt cream which is drybrushed. The centre is coloured Yellow, Yellow/Green, then Orange and finally Red, this time finished with Sanding sealer and Acrylic Satin Lacquer. 280mm x 45mm. Inspired by Nick Agar
Further news about this piece, was that it achieved turning of the week on the Woodworkers Institute and the honour of cover on the World of Woodturners.
Following on from the Pedestal Bowl i was inspired by a Terra Sigillata Form for the Roman period of AD40-AD80, this piece is textured again with the Sorby Spiralling and Texturing Tool, then Sprayed with Chestnut Spirit Stain Black, then Gold Gilt Cream added to highlight the Texturing. The piece is made from London Plane.
One of my new works, inspired by the Romans, it is a pedestal bowl, which measures 170mm x 140mm made from Sycamore, which has been textured with the Sorby Spiralling and Texturing system, Black Spirit Stain and then gold gilt cream added to enhance. This piece also achieved the coveted honour of the Cover of the Day on the World of Woodturners Website.

This is a Flamed Beech Platter, the wood was locally sourced from the Ullapool Woodturning Centre
And then a coloured Sycamore tall bowl which has been textured with the Sorby Spiralling System, then coloured with Black Spirit stains and then gold gilt cream added to the texturing. the lower photograph is a close up of the texturing which is in 3 distinctive bands. Today this piece was chosen as Members Choice on the Woodworkers institute, this honour is the for the fourth time this year
