This a bowl, which shows the illusion of being a nested series of bowls, made from Spalted Pear
Following on from the Pedestal Bowl i was inspired by a Terra Sigillata Form for the Roman period of AD40-AD80, this piece is textured again with the Sorby Spiralling and Texturing Tool, then Sprayed with Chestnut Spirit Stain Black, then Gold Gilt Cream added to highlight the Texturing. The piece is made from London Plane.
Just a couple of pieces of new work just recently turned.
This is a Flamed Beech Platter, the wood was locally sourced from the Ullapool Woodturning Centre
And then a coloured Sycamore tall bowl which has been textured with the Sorby Spiralling System, then coloured with Black Spirit stains and then gold gilt cream added to the texturing. the lower photograph is a close up of the texturing which is in 3 distinctive bands. Today this piece was chosen as Members Choice on the Woodworkers institute, this honour is the for the fourth time this year
This is a Beech Platter, which measures 280mm x 25mm. This piece was placed onto a website called World of Woodturners, were it achieved the cover photo award, which is a huge compliment to my work
Another Beech Platter, made from the same board of Timber, however there is a significant difference in the grain pattern.
